The defending World Champion New York Giants defeat the Washington Redskins in their season opener.

The New York Giants had many weapons Thursday night; they were all loaded and they knew how to use them:

On the opening drive, New York Giants Quarterback Eli Manning started on his own 16 yard line and drove 84 yards before rushing it in himself from the 2 yard line for New York's only touchdown of the game. In all, Eli threw for over 200 yards.

On the first possession by Washington, Giant's forth year Defensive End Justin Tuck, who replaced retired Michael Strahan at left end, started the defensive series with a sack of Jason Campbell.

Giant's Wide Receiver, Plaxico Burress, caught 10 passes for 133 yards, the same number of passing yards Jason Campbell had during the entire Redskin offense.

Giants Running Back Brandon Jacobs ran over several Redskins and recorded 116 rushing yards -- his first 100-yard outing in six games (including the playoffs). Darrick Ward rushed for another 39 and had 21 yards on two receptions.

John Carney kicked for 10 points (3 field goals and an extra point), combining with Eli's touchdown gave the Giants a 16 to 7 victory for the opening game of the 2008 season Thursday night.
